HantsFurs is the name used by a group that originally began as the Southampton furry mailing list at the turn of the century. From there, it grew into a large, well established group, running websites, events and social media spaces for local furries.

The way the HantsFurs group has traditionally been run gives anyone in the community the freedom to organise furmeets where and when they want, supported and advertised by the group’s substantial online presence, rather than having a single structured leadership and schedule. In spite of the name, the group has covered up to five different counties at its peak, and run furmeets in at least a dozen locations, not all of them successfully.

In recent years, the Southampton furmeets have grown large enough to organise separately from the HantsFurs name, leaving the group supporting an array of smaller, generally less formally structured meets, strung across a broad area of the countryside.
